Bi-Weekly Timesheet Template
Last updated August 17, 2026
A bi-weekly timesheet template records a full two-week pay period on one page: fourteen day rows split into Week 1 and Week 2, each with its own subtotal, plus a period total and signature lines. The per-week subtotals matter because overtime is figured per week even when pay arrives every two. Download it below as a blank or fillable PDF — free, no signup.
Both are free, one page, US Letter. The blank version is for printing and filling in by hand; the fillable version can be typed into in any PDF reader before printing or saving.
Why bi-weekly sheets need per-week subtotals
Bi-weekly is the most common US pay schedule — 26 paychecks a year. But the pay period and the overtime window are different things: federal overtime is earned on hours over 40 in a single workweek, never averaged across the two weeks. Working 45 hours then 35 is 5 hours of time and a half, even though the period totals a flat 80. That's why this template subtotals each week separately instead of running one 14-day column.
What's on the template
- Header fields — employee, manager, pay period start, department.
- Week 1 and Week 2 blocks — seven day rows each: date, time in, time out, unpaid break minutes, daily total.
- A subtotal box per week — the numbers overtime is checked against.
- A period total and signature lines for the employee and approver.
Bi-weekly vs semi-monthly — don't mix them up
Bi-weekly means every two weeks (26 pay periods a year, always the same weekday). Semi-monthly — sometimes loosely called "bi-monthly" — means twice a month (24 periods, typically the 15th and last day). A semi-monthly period is 13–16 days and drifts across weekdays, so if that's your schedule, track weeks on the weekly template and staple them, or use the monthly template. To see exactly which dates each schedule pays, run the pay period calculator.
Is this bi-weekly timesheet template free?
Yes — free to download, print, and copy for your whole team. No signup and no paid tier. The blank PDF is for handwriting; the fillable PDF can be typed into in any PDF reader.
Does overtime average across the two weeks?
No. Federal overtime applies per workweek: each of the two weeks is checked against 40 hours on its own. That's exactly why the template keeps Week 1 and Week 2 subtotals separate.
How do I total the hours?
Enter each week's punches into the free time card calculator in bi-weekly mode — it subtracts unpaid breaks, splits regular from overtime hours per week, and totals the period in decimal hours for payroll.
